Who we are
Männerberatung 24/7 – Krisenhelpline is the first professional point of contact for boys and men in crisis in Austria. 24 male counsellors from almost every Austrian province offer callers fast, confidential and free counselling by phone around the clock, and by chat from 4 pm to 10 pm.
The project is coordinated by Männerberatung Steiermark / Verein für Männer- und Geschlechterthemen, with active support from Männerberatung Wien and the other centres currently taking part: Männerbüro Salzburg, Männerberatung Salzburg (Institut für Männergesundheit), PONTO – Burschen- und Männerarbeit Kärnten, Jungen*- und Männer*fragen Vorarlberg and Männerberatung Burgenland.
How it began
Since 2020, several Austrian counselling centres for men have jointly run a helpline for boys and men, originally under the name Männerinfo and the number 0720 704 400. Since 1 September 2021, with funding from the Ministry of Social Affairs, we have been running our free crisis line 0800 400 777 around the clock.
The centres involved so far have been Männerberatung Wien; from Salzburg, Männerwelten, Männerbüro and Institut für Männergesundheit; Mannsbilder from Tyrol; from Carinthia, Caritas Männerberatung and PONTO – Burschen- und Männerarbeit; Caritas Männerberatung Lower Austria; the Linz men’s counselling centre at the Familienzentrum Pichling; Institut für Sozialdienste Vorarlberg; a counsellor from Männerberatung des Landes Oberösterreich and a counsellor from Jungen*- und Männer*fragen Bregenz; as well as Männerberatung Burgenland and Männerberatung Steiermark (VMG).
Since 2026 we have appeared together under the clearer name Männerberatung 24/7 – Krisenhelpline. The chat and the website are at maennerinfo.at.
